By what number should we multiply $\frac{-8}{13}$ so that the product may be $24 $?
To do: Find the number which if added to $\frac{-8}{13}$ so we get $24$
Solution:
Let’s call this unknown number $x$ .
$ \frac{-8}{13}x=24$
Dividing both sides of this equation by $\frac{-8}{13}$ , we get:
$x=24\div\frac{-8}{13}$
$x=24\times\frac{-13}{8}$
$x=3\times-13$ [$8\times3=24$]
$x= -39$
Therefore, the value of $x$ is $-39$
