By selling 36 bananas, a vendor suffer a loss equal to the selling price of 4 bananas. Find his loss percent
Given :
By selling 36 bananas, a vendor suffers a loss equal to the selling price of 4 bananas.
To do :
We have to find the loss percent.
Solution :
Let the selling price of 1 banana be $Rs.\ 1$.
This implies,
The selling price of 36 bananas $= Rs.\ 36 \times1=Rs.\ 36$
Selling price of 4 bananas $= Rs.\ 4 \times 1= Rs.\ 4$
This implies,
Loss $=Rs.\ 4$
Cost price of 36 bananas $=$ Selling price of 36 bananas $+$ Loss
$= Rs.\ ( 36+ 4)$
$= Rs.\ 40$
Therefore,
Loss percent $= \frac{Loss}{Cost\ price}\times100 \%$
$= \frac{4}{40}\times100 \%$
$= 10 \%$
The loss percent is $10 \%$.
