Burning of magnesium involves the emission of light and heat. Think of two more chemical changes which are accompanied by light, sound or heat.

The burning of magnesium involves the emission of light and heat. Hence, it is a chemical change. The change in which the chemical properties of the matter change is known as chemical change. During a chemical reaction, the chemical bonds between the molecules are broken and rearranged, and new bonds are formed resulting in the formation of new compounds.

Chemical changes which are accompanied by light, sound or heat are:

1. Burning of wood: Burning of wood is accompanied by light and Heat. It is an Exothermic Reaction.

2. Photosynthesis: Itis a chemical change as carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll to give sugar molecule and oxygen as a product. Here, sugar once formed cannot be converted back to carbon dioxide and water easily. As the new compound is formed from the reaction between water and carbon dioxide, it is a chemical change.
