Name some fabrics in your surroundings.
Some fabrics present in our surroundings are:
Bedsheets, blankets, curtains, table cloths, towels, and dusters.
[Extra information: In ancient times stitching was not known. People used to simply drape the fabrics around different parts of their bodies. Even today a number of unstitched fabrics are used by both men and women. These are Saree, dhoti, lungi, turban, dupatta, etc. There are so many different varieties or types of fabrics available today, these can be either natural or artificial. Some of them are as follows:-
1. Cotton- It is a natural fibre of cotton plants. It is a staple fibre, which means it is composed of different, varying lengths of fibres.
2. Chiffon- It is a lightweight, plain-woven fabric with a slight shine.
3. Crêpe- It is a silk, wool, or synthetic fabric usually light-to- medium-weight, which is popular in home decor for items like pillows, curtains, and window treatments.
4. Canvas- This fabric is made of heavy cotton yarn and to a lesser extent linen yarn, due to which is known for being durable, strong and heavy-duty.
5. Leather- It is a durable, wrinkle-resistant fabric, which is made from animal hides or skins]
