Find the momentum of a body of mass 100 g having a kinetic energy of 20 J.

Here given, mass of the body $m=100\ g=\frac{100}{1000}\ kg=\0.1\ kg$

Kinetic energy $K=20\ J$

Let $v$ be the velocity of the body.

Therefore, $\frac{1}{2}mv^2=20$

Or $mv^2=20\times2$

Or $0.1\times v^2=40$

Or $v^2=\frac{40}{0.1}$

Or $v^2=400$

Or $v=\sqrt{400}$

Or $v=20\ m/s$

Therefore, the momentum of the body $p=mv$

$=0.1\times 20$

$=2\ kg-m/s$
