(a) What is meant by a contact force? Explain with the help of an example.
(b) What is meant by a non-contact force? Explain with the help of an example.

(a). Contact force

The force produced between two bodies in contact is called contact force. For example, in cricket, if the batsmen hit the ball with force the ball moves. Here the force occurs because of the contact between the ball and the bat.

(b). Non-contact force

If a force is produced between two bodies that are not in contact then that force is called non-contact forces. For example, the force exerted by the earth on a ball present far away from it(above).
