(a) What is genetics?(b) What are genes? Where are the genes located?(c) State and define three factors responsible for the rise of a new species.

(a) The science of heredity, inheritance of characters from one generation to another, and variations, is known as genetics.

(b)  Gene is a physical and functional unit of heredity, made up of DNA.

Every gene comprises a particular set of instructions either for protein-coding or for a particular function.

In the human body, genes are located in the chromosomes.

(c) Factors responsible for speciation are natural selection, genetic drift, geographical isolation, and mutation.

Natural selection: Genetic variation in the individual of species generated due to natural incidents led to the evolution of new species.

Genetic drift: Sudden alternation in gene frequency due to any natural or manmade factor is called genetic drift.
