(a) What are (i) metals (ii) non-metals, and (iii) metalloids ?Give two examples each of metals, non-metals and metalloids.(b) Classify the following into metals, non-metals and metalloids :Silicon, Mercury, Diamond, Sulphur, Iodine, Germanium, Sodium, Carbon, Magnesium, Copper, Boron, Helium

(a)  (i) Metals: Metals are elements that are malleable, ductile, and can conduct electricity.
Examples: Aluminum and zinc

(ii) Non-metals: Non-metals are elements that are neither malleable nor ductile, and do not conduct electricity. Most non-metals are brittle in nature.
Examples: Phosphorus, hydrogen

(iii) Metalloids: Metalloids are elements that show the properties of both metals and nonmetals.
Examples: Germanium, silicon
