(a) Name and state the rule to determine the direction of force experienced by a current carrying straight conductor placed in a uniform magnetic field which is perpendicular to it.(b) Draw a labelled diagram of an electric motor.

(a) Fleming's left-hand rule is the name of rule used to determine the direction of force experienced by a current carrying straight conductor placed in a uniform magnetic field which is perpendicular to it.

Fleming's left-hand rule, states that when left hand's thumb, forefinger (or, index finger) and centre finger (or, middle finger) are held mutually perpendicular to one another and adjusted in such a way that the forefinger points in the direction of the magnetic field, and the centre finger points in the direction of the current, then the direction in which thumb points, gives the direction of force acting on the conductor.
