(a)How do metals react with hydrogen? Explain with an example.
(b)How do non-metals react with hydrogen? Explain with an example.

(a) Most metals do not react with hydrogen. Some highly reactive metals like sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium react with hydrogen to form corresponding hydrides.

 Example: $2Na(s) + H_2(g) → 2NaH(s)$

(b) Non-metals also react with hydrogen by sharing their electrons with hydrogen to form covalent hydrides.
 Example: $H_2(g) + S(l) → H_2S(g)$
