(a) The ray-diagrams to show the formation of images when the object is placed in front of a concave mirror (converging mirror):
(i) When an object is placed between the pole $(P)$ and the focus $(F)$ of a concave mirror, the image formed is virtual, erect, magnified or enlarged and behind the mirror. The ray diagram is illustrated as follows:
Here, P: pole, F: focus, C: centre of curvature, AB: object and A'B': image.
(ii) When an object is placed between the centre of curvature $(C)$ and the focus $(F)$ of a concave mirror, the image formed is real, inverted, and enlarged. The ray diagram is illustrated as follows:

(b) One use of the concave mirror based on the formation of the image as in case (i) above: As a shaving mirror, because it can produce a magnified image.
