At a birthday party, Jhanvi and her friends ate $ 4 \frac{3}{8} $ margherita pizza and $ 2 \frac{1}{4} $ corn pizza. How much pizza did they eat altogether?

Given:

At a birthday party, Jhanvi and her friends ate \( 4 \frac{3}{8} \) margherita pizza and \( 2 \frac{1}{4} \) corn pizza.

To do:

We have to find the amount of pizza they ate altogether.

Solution:

Amount of margheritra pizza eaten $=4\frac{3}{8}$

$=\frac{4\times8+3}{8}$

$=\frac{32+3}{8}$

$=\frac{35}{8}$

Amount of corn pizza eaten $=2\frac{1}{4}$

$=\frac{2\times4+1}{4}$

$=\frac{8+1}{4}$

$=\frac{9}{4}$

Total amount of pizza eaten $=\frac{35}{8}+\frac{9}{4}$

$=\frac{35+9\times2}{8}$

$=\frac{35+18}{8}$

$=\frac{53}{8}$

$=6\frac{5}{8}$
