As seen in the figure, two $ 5 \mathrm{~m} $ wide path is dividing a rectangular garden into four equal parts. The length and breadth of the rectangular garden is $ 60 \mathrm{~m} $ and $ 40 \mathrm{~m} $ respectively. Let us calculate the cost of paving the path at Rs. 80 per sq meter. Let's also find the area of each part of land.

Given:

The length and breadth of the rectangular garden is \( 60 \mathrm{~m} \) and \( 40 \mathrm{~m} \) respectively.

Width of the path$=5\ m$

To do:

We have to calculate the cost of paving the path at Rs. 80 per sq meter and the area of each part of land.

Solution:

Length of one of the path$=$Length of the rectangle$=60\ m$

Length of the other path$=$Breadth of the rectangle$=40\ m$

Width of each path$=5\ m$

Total area of the paths$=60\times5+40\times5-5^2\ m^2$

$=300+200-25\ m^2$

$=475\ m^2$

Cost of paving path per sq. m.$=Rs.\ 80$

Total cost of paving the path$=Rs.\ 80\times475=Rs.\ 38000$

Total area of the land$=$Area of the rectangular garden$-$Total area of the path

$=60\times40-475\ m^2$

$=2400-475\ m^2$

$=1925\ m^2$

Area of each part of the land$=\frac{1925}{4}\ m^2$

$=481.25\ m^2$.
