Arrange the following in the decreasing order $ 5.05 \mathrm{m}, 0.55 \mathrm{dm}, 20 \mathrm{km}, 75.5 \mathrm{mm} $
Given : 5.05m,0.55dm,20km,75.5mm
To do: Arrange in decreasing order
We know:
1 decimeter (dm) = 0.1 m
1 kilometer (km) = 1000 m
1 millimeter (mm) = 0.001 m
Let us convert all numbers into metres:
So, 0.55dm=0.55×0.1m
= 0.055 m
20km=20×1000m
= 20,000 m
75.5mm=75.5×0.001m
= 0.0755 m
Now we can easily arrange them in decreasing order.
20,000 m, 5.05 m, 0.0755 m, 0.055 m
or
20 km, 5.05 m, 75.5 mm, 0.55 dm
