An old person is unable to see clearly nearby as well as distant objects. What kind of lens will be required to see clearly? Give reason.

In old age, the power accommodation of the eye is reduced due to which a person can see neither the near object nor the far object. To see clearly, the person needs a bifocal lens.

A bifocal lens has both kinds of lenses, a convex lens for long-sightedness and a concave lens for short-sightedness. When the person needs to look at nearer objects, he will see through the convex part and he needs to see distant objects, he will use the concave part.
