After a dust storm, how does rain help in making air clear?

After a Dust Storm, The water from the rain clears the dust particles which are able to clear from the air and it acts as a cleansing agent also. 

Even, the unwanted layers (the layers of thick ash) is also cleared by the rain (water molecules).
