Acid has a burning effect and lemon is acidic in nature then if we put lemon in our hand nothing happens. Why?

The lemon juice contains citric acid, which is not very strong, and also not very concentrated.

Lemon might irritate the skin because lemon (pH 2-3) is much more acidic than your skin (pH = 4.5).

Also, the skin has many protective layers so even though the lemon is acidic in nature it does not corrodes the skin.

But if you keep a cut lemon in your kitchen shelf or floor for some time, you will see that the colour of the floor or self fades only in those portions. This occurs due to the acidity of lemon.

Extra information: Lemon has a bleaching effect when applied to the hair. Hence, lemon is used as a natural hair-lightening agent. Lemon mixed with honey can also be used on the skin for rejuvenation due to its antioxidant properties. Drinking warm lemon water on an empty stomach is highly recommended.
