(a) Write the names of the regions in hindbrain. Give one function of each region.
(b) Name the functions of cerebrum.

(a) Hindbrain has three regions and they are:

1. Pons - It helps in regulating the breathing process (respiration).

2. Cerebellum - It helps in maintaining the posture and balance of the body so that we can make an accurate movement.

3. Medulla - It is the controlling centre for reflexes such as swallowing, coughing, sneezing, secretion of saliva and vomiting. It also helps in controlling the various involuntary actions such as the heartbeat, breathing, blood pressure and peristaltic movements of the alimentary canal.

(b) Cerebrum: It is the largest and main thinking part of the brain. It is also known as the cortex. It is associated with the higher brain function such as learning, reasoning, intelligence, personality, memory, thoughts, sensations, actions and movements.
