(a) Write the formula for acceleration. Give the meaning of each symbol which occurs in it.
(b) A train starting from Railway Station attains a speed of 21 m/s in one minute. Find its acceleration.

(a). Acceleration: The rate of the change of the velocity with time is known as acceleration. It is denoted by $a$.

Formula for acceleration:

acceleration $\boxed{a=\frac{v-u}{t}}$

$u\rightarrow$ initial velocity

$v\rightarrow$ final velocitty

$t\rightarrow$ time

(b). As given, a train starts from the railway station.

Therefore, its initial velocity $u=0$

Final speed $v=21\ m/s$

Time take $t=1\ minute=60\ sec.$

Therefore, acceleration $a=\frac{v-u}{t}$

$=\frac{21-0}{60}\ m/s^2$

$=\frac{21}{60}\ m/s^2$

Thus, acceleration is $\frac{21}{60}\ m/s^2$.
