A wire is circular in shape with radius 56 cm. If it is bent in the form of a square, find the side of the square.
Given:
A wire is circular in shape with radius 56 cm
It is bent in the form of a square.
To find:
The measure of each side of the square.
Solution:
Radius of circular wire $(r) = 56\ cm$
Circumference of the circle $=$ Perimeter of square
Circumference of the circle $= 2\pi r$
$=2\times\frac{22}{7}\times56$
$=44\times8$
$=352\ cm$
Let the side of the square be $x$ cm.
Perimeter of square $= 352\ cm$
Perimeter of square $= 4 \times$ side
$4 \times x = 352$
$x= \frac{352}{4}$
$x=88$
The side of the square is 88 cm.
