A wire in the shape of a regular hexagon of side 6 cm is reshaped to form a square. Find the measure of each side of the square.

Given:

A wire is in the shape of a hexagon of side 6cm.

It has to be reshaped to form a square.

To find:

The measure of each side of the square.

Solution:

Side of hexagon $(x)$  =  6 cm

Perimeter of hexagon = Perimeter of square

Perimeter of hexagon =  6 $\times$ side

6$\times x$  =  6 $\times$ 6  =  36

Perimeter of hexagon =  36 cm

Perimeter of square = 36 cm

Formula of Perimeter of square =  4 $\times$ side

4 $\times$ side  =  36

Side = $\frac{36}{4}  = 9$

Side of the square is 9 cm.
