A truck travelling at 54 km/h is slow down to 36 km/h in 10 sec. Find the retardation.

Here, initial velocity $u=54\ km/h=54\times\frac{5}{18}\ m/s=15\ m/s$

Final velocity $v=36\ km/h=36\times\frac{5}{18}=10\ m/s$

Time $t=10\ sec.$

Therefore, retardation $a=\frac{v-u}{t}=\frac{10-15}{10}$

$=\frac{-5}{10}$

$=-0.5\ m/s^2$
