A photograph of a bacteria enlarged $ 50,000 $ times attains a length of $ 5 \mathrm{~cm} $ as shown in the diagram. What is the actual length of the bacteria? If the photograph is enlarged $ 20,000 $ times only, what would be its enlarged length?
Given:
A photograph of a bacteria enlarged \( 50,000 \) times attains a length of \( 5 \mathrm{~cm} \).
To do:
We have to find the actual length of the bacteria. Also, we have to find the enlarged length if the photograph is enlarged \( 20,000 \) times.
Solution:
The actual length of the bacteria$=\frac{Enlarged\ length}{Number\ of\ times\ enlarged}$
$=\frac{5}{50000}\ cm$
$=0.0001\ cm$
Enlarged length of the bacteria when the photograph is enlarged 20000 times$=$ Actual length$\times$ Number of times enlarged
$=0.0001\times20,000\ cm$
$=2\ cm$
