A person earns rupees thousand in a day he spent $\frac{2}{9}$ of it on transport and $\frac{3}{8}$ of it on food. How much money does he save in a day?

Given :

Money earned by the person in a day $=₹ 1000$.

Money spent on transportation $=\frac{2}{9}$ of 1000.

Money spent on food $= \frac{3}{8}$ of 1000.

To do :

We have to find the money he saves in a day.

Solution :

Money he saves $= 1000 - (\frac{2}{9} \times 1000 + \frac{3}{8} \times 1000)$

                             $= 1000 - 1000 (\frac{2}{9} + \frac{3}{8})$

                            $= 1000 - 1000 (\frac{2 \times 8}{9 \times 8} + \frac{3 \times 9}{8 \times 9})$

                           $= 1000 - 1000 (\frac{16}{72} + \frac{27}{72})$

                            $= 1000 - 1000 (\frac{16+27}{72})$

                            $= 1000 - 1000 (\frac{43}{72})$

                            $= 1000 - \frac{43000}{72}$

                           $ = \frac {72000-43000}{72}$

                           $= \frac{29000}{72} = 402.77$

Therefore, he saves ₹402.77 in a day.
