A number is doubled and 9 is added. If the result is trebled it becomes 75. What is that number?
Given :
A number is doubled and 9 is added.
If the result is trebled it becomes 75.
To do :
We have to find the number.
Solution :
Let the number be 'x'.
x is doubled and 9 is added, the result is,
$2x+9$.
If the result is trebled it becomes 75.
$3(2x+9)=75$
$6x+27=75$
$6x=75-27$
$6x=48$
$x=\frac{48}{6}=8$
Therefore, the number is 8.
