A motorcycle moving with a speed of $5\ m/s$ is subjected to an acceleration of $0.2\ m/s^2$. Calculate the speed of the motorcycle after 10 seconds, and the distance travelled in this time.
Initial velocity of the motorcycle $u=5\ m/s$
Acceleration $a=0.2\ m/s^2$
Time $t=10\ sec.$
Let $v$ be the final velocity of the motorcycle.
On using the equation of motion:$v=u+at$
Or $v=5+0.2\times10$
Or $v=5+2$
Or $v=7\ m/s$
Distance travelled $s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2$
Or $s=5\times10+\frac{1}{2}\times0.2\times10^2$
Or $s=50+10$
Or $s=60\ m$
