A man got 10% increase in his salary. If the new salary is Rs 1,54,000, find his original salary.
Given: The new salary of the person is Rs 1,54,000 after 10% increment.
To do: Find the initial salary
Solution:
Let the original salary = Rs$x$
New salary = ₹ 154000
Salary increased is 10%
Which means, 10 % of the original salary is increased .
So, original salary $+$ 10% of original salary = 154000
$ x +\frac{10 x}{100} = 154000$
Cross multiply,
$\frac{ 100 x + 10 x}{ 100} = 154000$
$ \frac{110 x}{ 100} = 154000$
$\frac{11 x}{ 10} = 154000$
$x =154000 \times\frac{10}{ 11}$
$x = \frac{154000}{11}$
$x = 140000$
So, the original salary is 140000
