A lamp rated 60W and an electric iron rated 800W are used for 6 hours everyday. Calculate the total energy consumed in 30 days.

Given: A lamp rated 60W and an electric iron rated 800W are used for 6 hours every day.

To find: Total energy consumed in 30 days.

Solution:

Total power consumption = Power consumption of lamp + Power consumption of iron

= 60 W+ 800 W= 860 W

Power consumption = 860 W

Time = 6 hours each day for 30 days.

Total time for 30 days = $6 \ hours \times 30 = 180 \ hours $

We know, $Energy = Power \times Time$

So, $Energy = 860 \ watt \times 180 \ hour$

= 1,54,800 watt-hour

we know 1000 watt-hour = 1 kilowatt-hour

So, Energy consumed =  154.8 kWh
