We have to find the probability of getting a multiple of 2 or 3.

Solution:

When a die is thrown, the total possible outcomes are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

This implies,

The total number of possible outcomes $n=6$.

Multiples of 2 from 1 to 6 are 2, 4 and 6.

Multiples of 3 from 1 to 6 are 3 and 6.

Total number of favourable outcomes $=3+1=4$.

We know that,

Probability of an event $=\frac{Number\ of\ favourable\ outcomes}{Total\ number\ of\ possible\ outcomes}$

Therefore,

Probability of getting a multiple of 2 or 3 $=\frac{4}{6}$

$=\frac{2}{3}$

The probability of getting a multiple of 2 or 3 is $\frac{2}{3}$.
