A dice is thrown. Find the probability of getting an even number.

Given: A dice is thrown.

To do: To find the probability of getting an even number.

Solution:

There are $6$ possible outcomes $S=[1,\ 2,\ 3,\ 4,\ 5,\ 6]$

The event that we get that an even number on tossing the die can occur in 3 possible way

Let $E$ be the event to be prime number

$E=[2,\ 4,\ 6]$

$\therefore$ Probability of getting a prime number$=\frac{Number\ of\ favourable\ outcomes}{Total\ number\ of\ possible\ outcomes}$

$=\frac{3}{6}$

$=\frac{1}{2}$

Thus, the probability of getting a prime number is $\frac{1}{2}$.
