A cuboidal water tank is $6\ m$ long, $5\ m$ wide and $4.5\ m$ deep. How many litres of water can it hold?

Given:

A cuboidal water tank is $6\ m$ long, $5\ m$ wide and $4.5\ m$ deep.

To do:

We have to find the number of litres of water it can hold.

Solution:

Length of the water tank $(l) = 6\ m$

Breadth of the tank $(b) = 5\ m$

Depth of the tank $(h) = 4.5\ m$

Therefore,

The volume of water in the tank $= lbh$

$= 6 \times 5 \times 4.5$

$= 135\ m^3$

$= 135 \times 1000$ litres                   ($1\ m^3 = 1000\ l$)

$= 135000$ litres

The tank can hold 135000 litres of water.
