A car starting with a velocity of $10\ m/s$ reached an acceleration of $8\ m/s^{2}$ in $4$ seconds. Find the distance travelled by the car.

Given: A car starting with a velocity of $10\ m/s$ reached an acceleration of $8\ m/s^{2}$ in $4$ seconds.

To do: To find the distance travelled by the car.

Solution:

Starting velocity $u=10\ m/s$

Acceleration of car $=8\ m/s^2$

Time $t=4\ seconds$

Distance travelled by the car $s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2$

$\Rightarrow s=10\times4+\frac{1}{2}\times8\times( 4)^2$

$\Rightarrow s=40+16$

$\Rightarrow s=56\ m$

Thus, distance travelled by the car is $56\ m$.
