A car acquires a velocity of $72\ m/s$ in 10 seconds starting from rest. Find the distance travelled in this time.
Here initial velocity $u=0$
Final velocity $v=72\ km/h$
Time $t=10\ sec.$
Let $a$ be the acceleration of the car.
On using the equation, $v=u+at$
$72=0+a\times 10$
Or $10a=72$
Or $a=\frac{72}{10}=7.2\ m/s^2$
Let $s$ be the distance travelled by the car.
On using the equation $s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2$
Or $s=0\times10+\frac{1}{2}\times 7.2\times 10$
Or $s=0+36$
Or $s=36\ m$
Therefore, distance travelled is $36\ m$.
