A book has dimensions of $24 cm\times16 cm\times4 cm$ and weight 1.5 kg. It consists of 500 sheets of paper. Find:
a. The volume of the book.
b. Thickness of each sheet.
c. The area of each sheet.

Given :

The dimensions of the book are $24 cm\times16 cm\times4 cm$.

Number of sheets of paper in the book = 500

This implies,

Length of the paper = 24 cm

Breadth of the paper = 16 cm

Height of the book = 4 cm

To find :

We have to find

a. The volume of the book.

b. Thickness of each sheet.

c. The area of each sheet.

Solution :

(a) Volume of a cuboid of length l, breadth b and height h is lbh.

Volume of the book $=24 cm\times16 cm\times4 cm=1536 cm^3$

(b) Thickness of a sheet $=\frac{Height of the book}{Number of pages}=\frac{4}{500}cm=\frac{4\times2}{500\times2}cm=\frac{8}{1000}cm=0.008 cm$.

(c) Area of each sheet $=24 cm\times16 cm=384 cm^2$

Volume of book $=1536 cm^{3}$

Thickness of each sheet  $=0.008 cm$

Area of each sheet $=384 cm^{2}$
