Solution :

The total number of balls in the bag $=5+3=8$.

Therefore,

The probability of drawing a red ball $= \frac{Number\ of\ red\ balls}{Total\ number\ of\ balls} = \frac{5}{8}$.

Therefore, the probability of getting a red ball is $\frac{5}{8}$.
