A $4\ cm$ cube is cut into $1\ cm$ cubes. Calculate the total surface area of all the small cubes.
Given:
A $4\ cm$ cube is cut into $1\ cm$ cubes.
To do:
We have to find the total surface area of all the small cubes.
Solution:
Length of the side of the cube $= 4\ cm$
By cutting it into $1\ cm$ cubes, we get,
$4 \times 4 \times 4 = 64$ cubes
Surface area of one cube $= 6 \times (1)^2$
$= 6 \times 1$
$=6\ cm^2$
Surface area of $64$ cubes $= 6 \times 64$
$= 384\ cm^2$
