Given:

A 3-star hotel in Delhi charges \( 10 \% \) sales tax on the price of the food taken. Mr. Saxena and his family had food for Rs.\( \ 685 \).

To do:

We have to find the total money he had to pay.

Solution:

Sales tax paid on Rs. 685 of food $=\frac{10}{100}\times685$

$=Rs.\ 68.5$

Total amount paid $=$ Amount for food $+$ Sales tax on food

$=Rs.\ (685+68.5)$

$=Rs.\ 753.5$

He had to pay Rs. 753.50.
