Given:

12 cakes of soap together weigh 5 kg and 604 gm.
To do:

We have to find the weight of

(i) One cake in both kg and gm (ii) 5 cakes in kg.

Solution:

We know that,

$1\ kg=1000\ gm$
Weight of 12 cakes of soap $=(5\times1000+604)\ gm=5604\ gm$
 (i) Weight of 1 cake$=\frac{5604}{12}\ gm=467\ gm$

$=\frac{467}{1000}\ kg$

$=0.467\ kg$

Weight of 1 cake in kg is 0.467 kg and in gm is 467 g.

(ii) Weight of 5 cakes in kg$=$Weight of 1 cake in kg$\times$ Number of cakes

$=0.467\times5\ kg$

$=2.335\ kg$

Weight of 5 cakes is 2.335 kg.
