12 cakes of soap together weigh 5 kg and 604 gm. Find the weight of (i) One cake in both kg and gm (ii) 5 cakes in kg.
Given:
12 cakes of soap together weigh 5 kg and 604 gm.
To do:
We have to find the weight of
(i) One cake in both kg and gm (ii) 5 cakes in kg.
Solution:
We know that,
$1\ kg=1000\ gm$
Weight of 12 cakes of soap $=(5\times1000+604)\ gm=5604\ gm$
(i) Weight of 1 cake$=\frac{5604}{12}\ gm=467\ gm$
$=\frac{467}{1000}\ kg$
$=0.467\ kg$
Weight of 1 cake in kg is 0.467 kg and in gm is 467 g.
(ii) Weight of 5 cakes in kg$=$Weight of 1 cake in kg$\times$ Number of cakes
$=0.467\times5\ kg$
$=2.335\ kg$
Weight of 5 cakes is 2.335 kg.
