Multiply:
$(2x^2-1)$ by $(4x^3 + 5x^2)$

AcademicMathematicsNCERTClass 8

To do:

We have to multiply $(2x^2-1)$ by $(4x^3 + 5x^2)$

Solution:

We know that,

$(a+b)\times(c+d)=a(c+d)+b(c+d)$

Therefore,

$(2x^2-1)\times(4x^3 + 5x^2)=2x^2 \times (4x^3 + 5x^2) - 1 (4x^3 + 5x^2)$

$= 2x^2 \times 4x^3 + 2x^2 \times 5x^2 - 4x^3 - 5x^2$

$= 8x^{2+3} + 10x^{2+2}-4x^3-5x^2$

$= 8x^5 + 10x^4 - 4x^3 - 5x^2$
