Biography

Jil Sander's real name is Heidemarie Jiline Sander was born in Wessel Buren, Germany, in 1963. She completed her studies in Germany at a textile-engineering school. Jil Sander wanted to become a fashion journalist, so she worked first at McCall's magazine in the USA and then at Constanze and Petra in Germany. After that, she sifted through fashion designs and started her own creations. At first, she started selling clothing designed by European designers and then she included her own designed clothing. In the 1960s, Jil Sander started her first boutique in Hamburg.

In 1973, Jil Sander released her first collection. It became very popular for its luxurious fabrics and stylish workwear, which people could not imagine before. The collections were fine in design, carefully stitched, and simple and comfortable fabrics with rich colors, which make them special and unique. In the 1980s, Jil Sander's new collections concentrated on decorations with luxurious trims and accessories.

In 1979, Jil Sander explored her fashion and company very fast. She launched a new level of beauty products and perfumes in 1979. In 1989, she started her minimalist style and involved other designers in it.
