Designing as a Career

Her designing voyage began with the Persian designer Michel Klein, under whom Isabel worked as an intern in 1987. Following this, Isabel collaborated with Bridget Yorke, where she worked on two of his collections and assisted art director Marc Ascoli. She finished various projects with him, including Chloe, Martine Sitbon, and Yohji Yamamoto. Working under designers gave her confidence, and in 1989, Isabel launched her own label, which was originally a jewellery label. Followed by this, she founded a label with her mother, "Twen". Her collections became very famous and she gained a large amount of fame. Starting her own label in 1994 in the city of Paris, Isabel became more experienced and dedicated towards her work. In 1995, Isabel's first spring/summer show was held, where her collections were liked by the audience. This led her to her first awards in 1997, "de la Mode," and the "Whirlpool Award" for the best female designer in 1998.

Isabel's interest in the design field became more immense and her collection more glamorous. In 1998, she decided to design for French mail-order brand La Redoute and launched a new line in Japan called I*M. With the growth in the business, Isabel debuted a diffusion line, Etoile by Isabel Marant, for ready-to-wear shows. And the following year, she launched the whole collection of Etoile. Isabel opened her second store in Saint-Germain-des-Pred, her third in the Marais in 2007, and her fourth in the 16th arrondissement in 2012. On the other hand, Isabel was inclined to launch her children'swear line and pop-up boutique in Paris in 2004 and 2006. She also opened her first US store in SoHo, New York in 2010. And in 2012, Isabel was presented with the award "Fashion Designer of the Year".
