Improve Your Conflict Management Skills
How to Make a Real Difference in Situations Involving Conflict
Course Description
Conflict is a common feature of life, whether in the workplace or beyond. A common reaction is to back away or hide our head in the sand, even though this type of response is not helpful and may actually make the situation worse. This course has therefore been developed to help participants develop a fuller knowledge of conflict management, a more confident response to it and a higher level of skills.
It follows on from Neil’s earlier course, Managing Conflict, which introduced the basics. The current course builds on these foundations by establishing three key principles; exploring the range of sources of conflict; introducing a number of useful tools for responding to the challenges of situations involving conflict; highlighting the importance of ‘principled negotiation’; and considering the potential benefits of conflict.
Conflict situations have the potential to be very unpleasant and stressful, but when handled skilfully and effectively, they need not be feared. Indeed, becoming highly skilled in managing conflict can be extremely helpful in a wide range of careers, businesses and wider life circumstances.
Feeling more confident about managing conflict can help us to become more confident in general, better equipped to respond positively to difficult situations when they arise.
