His creations have received worldwide acclaim and have been worn by Hollywood celebrities on world−famous occasions such as the red carpet.

Designing a Career

"Armani" was founded in 1975 by Giorgio Armani. It is a fashion brand, worth $9.3 billion. Giorgio was born in 1934, and his recent interest in anatomy has led him to pursue a career in medicine. But due to a lack of interest over time, Armani dropped out of the college. To do something different and in the process of finding himself, Armani joined the army, which he gradually left due to his lack of interest. His journey didn’t end here. He then worked in some famous department stores like La Renta and became a designer for Nino Cerruti. In 1960, Armani met Sergio Giuliani and they became good friends. Fighting all the stepping stones, Armani got encouragement from his friend and started his freelancing career as a designer at some well−known fashion houses. This proved to be a milestone in Armani’s career. In 1975, putting in all the struggles and hard−work, Armani founded a company, "Armani", with Sergio, in Milan.

His first famous work was a male ready−to−wear clothing line in 1976, and then he released a female line as well. Armani's work has received a lot of positive feedback. Meanwhile, Armani founded another branch of Giorgio Armani Corporation in America and other branches like Money for men's and women's wear. Armani expanded into swimwear, underwear, and accessories as his interest grew. Armani jr., Armani Jeans, and Emporio Armani are his other famous establishments. Even after many obstacles, Armani didn’t stop and achieved great heights. His goal was to target youths with a lower price so that it could be affordable for the middle class as well. And with time, his brand became a symbol of success.

Iconic Fashion Designs

In 1978, Armani designed a beige jacket with a coordinating long skirt for Diane Keaton. His first design was for an actress, who wore it on the Red Carpet.

In 1990, Armani designed a suit, which was inspired by his menswear collection, for Julia Roberts. This was designed on the occasion of the 1990 Golden Globes. He was even awarded in the category of oversized trouser suit this year.

In 2006, Armani designed an off−shoulder custom wedding gown, which was worn by Katie Holmes.

By this time, Armani had started to design musicians. Earlier this year, he designed for Beyonce.

In 2008, Armani designed for Hilary Swank during the 2008 haute couture show. This event commenced in Paris, France. In this year's Met Gala, Katie Holmes wore a gown designed by Armani in her honour.
