Course Description

In this course, we will discuss –

  1. What is the meaning of tenses?
  2. What are the three broad categories of tenses?

Tenses play a crucial role in the English language. It denotes the time an action takes place, whether sometime in the past, in the present or will take some time in the future. Tenses are just the way we talk about time. Tenses can be broadly classified into three categories - Past, Present and Future.

In each category of tense, there are four different types i.e.

  1. Simple
  2. Continuous
  3. Perfect
  4. Perfect Continuous

We will also discuss in detail all the four different types of Future tense:

  • Future Simple Tense
  • Future Continuous Tense
  • Future Perfect Tense
  • Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Future simple tense is used to talk about an action that will occur in future. This tense is also used to express a wish or a plan or predict the events supposed to take place in future. It is also used for promises/requests/refusals/offers.

Future Continuous tense is also known as Future Progressive tense.

Future Perfect tense is used to refer to

- an action that will be completed before a specific time in future (deadline is there).

- an action that will happen before another action in future.

Future Perfect Continuous Tense is a tense which is used to talk about the action that will be in progress for a certain period of time at a specific time in the future.
