Difference Between Bearded Dragon and Fancy Bearded Dragon
People's opinions on what makes a good pet have recently differed. A little over a decade ago, the idea of keeping any kind of dragon as a pet would have been met with widespread disapproval. Because to the dedication of professional breeders and enthusiasts, these incredible creatures are now easily found in pet stores.
Bearded dragons need a hot, dry environment to replicate their native habitat. The dragon needs access to water, and the enclosure's temperature should vary from chilly to warm so that it may bask in the sun.
Many people choose to keep dragons as pets because they are interesting to watch in captivity, and require little attention. Some common dragon habits include arm waving, head bobbing, and stacking.
The bearded dragon and the fancy bearded dragon are only two of the numerous dragon species.
What is Bearded Dragon?
They are a member of a genus called Pogona which originated from Australia. They are yellow or tan in color and are called bearded due to the ability of the dragon to have a beard like skin in the throat surface mostly when it’s being territorial or feeling threatened. Its body is flat shaped, with spines on the surface of the throat, both sides of the body and also the head.
What is Fancy Bearded Dragon?
A fancy bearded dragon is a type of bearded dragon that has various variations from the bearded dragon. For instance, a fancy bearded dragon has less scaling and smoother skin and has a color variation which tends to lean more to the red color. Their availability is, however, seasonal.

Size − Both regular and fancy bearded dragons can grow to be quite large. Adult males can reach up to two feet in length, while females tend to be slightly smaller. However, fancy bearded dragons tend to be slightly smaller than their regular counterparts, with males averaging around 18 inches and females around 16 inches.
Behavior − Both regular and fancy bearded dragons are known for their docile and friendly nature. They are not typically aggressive and can be easily handled and trained. However, fancy bearded dragons have been bred for their unique physical characteristics, rather than their behavior, so there is no guarantee that they will be any more or less friendly than regular bearded dragons.
Diet − Both regular and fancy bearded dragons are omnivores, meaning they eat a combination of plant matter and insects. They require a balanced diet that includes plenty of leafy greens and vegetables, as well as a variety of insects such as crickets and mealworms. However, because fancy bearded dragons are often smaller than regular bearded dragons, they may require slightly less food overall.
Health − Both regular and fancy bearded dragons can be susceptible to a variety of health issues, including metabolic bone disease, respiratory infections, and parasites. It is important to provide proper nutrition and care to ensure that your bearded dragon remains healthy and happy.
