Did variation occur only in sexually reproductive plants?

AcademicBiologyNCERTClass 10

Variations occur in both, sexually as well as asexually reproducing plants. During sexual reproduction, the major variation occurs due to fertilization and crossing-over process, while in asexual reproduction, the variation can occur due to random mutation.

[Extra information:

Variation means the differences present in the characteristics of the individuals of the species such as the difference in skin color, height, etc. It can be caused due to the difference in the DNA sequence responsible for the expression of the particular character. It helps them to adapt to a particular environment and increases the chance of survival.]
