Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Bottom and Top Half Guard

Top Half Guard Pass: In the first part of the instructional program, Master Marcus Vinicius Di Lucia and his son Vinny show proper positioning in top half-guard and explain in detail how passing the half guard is the connection to a better position, where you can begin setting up your attacks. They begin with showing how to pass the knee shield and gradually progress to different variations of passing depending on the opponent in bottom half-guard reacts. This part of the instructional video is great showing everything from proper pressure passing, lapel/collar control, standing passes, and multiple high percentage submission attacks.

How to do an Omaplata: The last part of the instructional program has Master Marcus Vinicius Di Lucia breaking down the omaplata submission explaining the facets of this shoulder lock. He begins this part of the instructional explaining proper control for the omaplata and how to set up the submission from different guards. After demonstrating basic set-ups, he goes into submission and sweep counter variations when the opponent defends the omaplata.

The program also includes a few tips from two black belts that have been training with Master Marcus for several years: Scott Caan and Richard Cohen.

About the instructors:

Marcus Vinicius Di Lucia started training in Judo at the age of five. He won several titles such as State, National and International Championships. At the age of 17, he started to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Marcus received a black belt in Judo in 1986 from Master Alfredo Dornelles. He also received a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1992 from Grand Master Fransisco Mansur. He is presently a 6th Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the owner of The Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsu Club in California.

Vinny Di Lucia grew up training Judo and Jiu Jitsu with his father Master Marcus Vinicius Di Lucia. He also got a chance to train with all of the Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsu Club instructors, picking up multiple diciplines such as Muay Thai, Wrestling, Krav Maga and Mixed Martial Arts. He is a 1st degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and frequently teaches classes and seminars.
