Mobile Phone 8 –Surface Tablet

It seems that Microsoft has done it again and their new products are the ones to keep an eye on this fall. With the announcement of their Windows 8 phone as well as their Surface Tablet the excitement is building up. Windows has been the OS of choice for the majority of people for quite some time now. Microsoft is definitely a top name in the OS business, but when they opted to move into the mobile world lots of people were surprised. Here’s some information about both of these devices and why you should purchase them as soon as possible:

Windows Phone 8

Windows Mobile Phone 8

The Windows Phone 8 was just recently announced and is advertised as the most advanced OS Microsoft has made to date, and it will be available in Microsoft phones this year as well. Users are going to see new components and features that are just amazing.

  • The Mobile OS is very closely tied to the Windows 8 OS and there is an excellent reason for this. Computer, phone, and tablet all share the same security, media, networking, and web browsing technology. This leads to better performance, more features, and app developers can work at a faster rate.

  • The OS is capable of running on a single processor but can also support multiple processors. This is great news because it means that older models can run the phone and also indicates that it will be prepared for whatever type of hardware comes in the future.

  • Windows Mobile Phone 8 can access NFC wireless sharing. This is a recently developed function in phones that permits users to share things over short distances such as photos, office documents, and even contact information all with a simple tap.

  • Also, expect to find Internet Explorer 10 and all of its new functions added into the amazing lineup of technology in the Windows Phone 8. This translates to faster, more secure browsing and the new SmartScreen Filter.

  • The new and innovative digital wallet feature has great potential. It is supposed to be capable of keeping debit and credit cards, coupons, boarding passes, and lots of other important information right there at your phone. Put that together with the new secure SIM and you can even pay for things by taping your phone against compatible checkout counters.

  • Microsoft irritated some industry observers when it announced that phones running WP7 cannot be upgraded to run WP8. WP8 will run on multi-core processors while WP7 devices are only sigle-core. Then too there’s the fact that WP8 gives developers a “shared common core” with Windows 8, making it easier for developers to create an app that would run on a Windows Phone 8 device and a Windows 8 device. These and some other design features are what make it impossible to upgrade a WP7 device to run WP8.

Surface Tablet

Next up we have the new Windows 8 tablet, the Surface. Microsoft made a huge strategic shift with this item by announcing in Los Angeles that it would make both the hardware and software, contrary to its traditional practice of making the software and letting others, such as Dell, HP, Lenovo and such, make the hardware.

  • This item is 9.3mm thick and weighs around 1.3lbs. Designed around an angled, all magnesium VaporMG case and an ARM chip powering the whole device this thing is rather amazing.

  • There’s a built in stand, twin MIMO Wi-Fi antenna, and a magnetic attached cover that is for lots more than just protection. This cover does double duty as a touch keyboard and track pad. It comes with HDMI, a microSD, and USB 2.0 as well as either 32GB or 64GB of storage.
