iPhone 5 Leaves Behind Other Smartphones by Miles

Nowadays, given the ease with which technology is progressing and the speed with which it is being developed, there is an array of Smartphones out there available to everyone who wants one.  The problem is that all this variety can sometimes become confusing, leaving the customer feeling frustrated and bewildered.  Which one is really the best?  Of course they all claim to be, but is any company really going to say bad things about their product?

So let’s take the iPhone 5 and compare it to some of the other Smartphones out there and see how it rates.

  • Among Smartphones the iPhone 5 is the thinnest, lightest and fastest iPhone ever made.  It also has an amazing amount of improvements and new features that the other phones lack.  To start, it has a larger display, a faster chip, super fast wireless technology, and an 8MP iSight camera.

  • The iPhone 5 is a mere 7.6 millimeters thin and comes with a nano-SIM card 44 percent smaller than a micro-SIM.  It also has a unique cellular solution.  Until now, the only way to build LTE into a world phone required two chips — one for voice, one for data.  Not anymore.  The iPhone 5 utilizes only a single chip for both.  The 8MP iSight camera has some brand new features, for example panorama and dynamic low-light mode, but still manages to be 25 percent smaller.  With so much crammed inside, you’d expect it to weigh more, but the iPhone 5 is 20 percent lighter and 18 percent thinner than the iPhone 4S.

  • In the U.S., the device is available from the three largest wireless carriers:  Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint.  All have their advantages, so the choice depends on your individual requirements and the location where you’ll be using the phone.  Essentially, however, the iPhone 5 is a world phone that will operate with ease in most areas of the globe.

Today’s iPhones include an integrated iPod touch, which is the standard-bearer in portable entertainment platforms.  Even so the iSight 8MP camera is vastly improved, and now includes some of the most advanced manufacturing techniques available to make ultimate use of the device’s optics.

  • The panorama capability of the camera is absolutely breathtaking.  Of course an app that lets you take extra-wide panorama pictures is nothing new, but this new feature makes doing so much easier and more accurate.

  • The rear-facing camera records video in full 1080p HD, and it’s a simple matter to take still pictures while recording videos.  Another improvement has been to low-light photography, there is an LED flash, and image stabilization is excellent.

Call Features and Quality

A larger screen, thinner and lighter design, and 4G LTE connectivity are some of the upgrades that have made a noticeable improvement in the iPhone 5, but there’s more:

  • The iPhone 5 boasts three microphones that have enriched the quality of voice calls.

  • Also, the voice and data chips, normally separate on world phones, are combined into one.  This is one of the main factors in enabling Apple to reduce the size and weight of the iPhone 5.

Battery Life and Memory

You can expect about eight hours of browsing and talk time, or 10 hours of video playback on a charge.

Additional Features

  • One of the characteristics of Apple products is the integration of software with hardware.  The iOS 6, which is basically the life center for the iPhone 5, has taken this concept one step further.

  • It enables voice-activated apps, is responsible for most of the camera improvements and makes Siri even more useful than before.  It is the nerve center for the Apple ecosystem that permits smartphones, computers and tablets to seamlessly share the same data via iCloud.  Without it there wouldn’t be those hundreds of apps that expand the iPhone’s boundaries even more.

  • So that about sums it up.  If you’re in the market for a new smartphone and want to get the best, the Apple iPhone 5 has lots to recommend it.  Naturally some of the iPhone 5’s competitors offer features that maybe tempting to you and which the iPhone 5 lacks.  It really depends on exactly what your needs and expectations are from a smartphone which one you end up with.  But for flawless software and hardware integration, and fresh concepts, the Apple iPhone 5 is an excellent choice, way ahead of the rest of the pack.
