Anita Dongre is an Indian fashion designer born on October 3, 1963. She is the creator of the Indian fashion house, "House of Anita Dongre". Early life

Dongre was born in Mumbai, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. When Anita and her siblings were young, Pushpa Sawlani, their mother, used to sew clothing for them. Anita later enrolled at the SNDT college in Mumbai to study fashion design. She enrolled in a degree program in fashion design.


Anita Dongre Pink City, a division of her clothing line, House of Anita Dongre, was founded by the designer. The House of Anita Dongre was the new name of AND Designs India Limited in 2015. The current tenants of the House of Anita Dongre include her own label ANITA DONGRE, AND (western wear), and Global Desi, a boho−chic line influenced by Indian folklore. Anita Dongre Grassroot was most recently introduced to her fashion house by her. Pink City, a jadau fine jewelry company, was founded by her as well.

The businesses associated with its two brands, AND and Global Desi, were transferred on March 28, 2019, by the Board of House of Anita Dongre Limited (HOADL), as part of its corporate restructuring, to a newly created wholly−owned subsidiary, Ochre and Black Private Limited (OBPL), with effect on April 1, 2019. Anita Dongre and Grassroot, two of HOADL's brands, will continue to be used to run the company. While Dongre concentrates on the design side, her brother and sister run the company. She is the organization's Chief Creative Officer.

Married Life

A businessman named Pravin Dongre is the husband of Anita Dongre, and the couple has a son, Yash Dongre, who works for Dongre as well. Members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals include vegan campaigner Dongre.
